Orbbec, a provider of 3D cameras, announced its AI-Aided SDK Programming Guide that seeks to simplify and accelerate software development by using ChatGPT. The guide allows developers to create their applications and sample codes by talking to ChatGPT.

“We’re excited to announce the AI-Aided SDK guide for Orbbec 3D camera,” David Chen, co-founder and CTO at Orbbec, said. “This new guide will help developers to create their applications easily and more efficiently than ever before. With ChatGPT’s AI assistance, developers can now focus more on their creative ideas rather than technical details.”

The SDK Programming Guide contains a language guide for communicating with ChatGPT to help users effectively convey their project requirements and guide ChatGPT to create the desired applications.

Orbbec said this programming process eliminates the steep learning curve and documentation lag associated with traditional SDK development workflows. Orbbec also provides 24/7 timely technical support and customized sample codes, which result in a simplified and accelerated software development process.

Earlier this year, Orbbec launched its latest product, the Femto Mega. Femto Mega was built in partnership with Microsoft. The depth camera uses Microsoft’s time-of-flight (ToF) technology for precise scene understanding over a wide 120 degrees field of view and a broad range from 0.25m to 5.5m.

Founded in 2013, Orbbec said it currently has over 1,100 patents, 1,000 customers and has sold over 1,000,000 products. Orbbec’s systems have full-stack research and development capabilities and various directions of technology routes, including depth engine ASIC chips, photosensitive chips, special optical systems and SDKs. Its product portfolio includes 3D technologies, structured light, Time of Flight and industrial 3D measurement.
